About Wat Nong Yai
Wat Nong Yai is one of Pattaya's largest temples, set just off Sukhumvit Road. Its bright white buildings and a 15-metre golden Buddha — added in 2014 — make it an eye-catching landmark, while the wider grounds keep a calm, uncrowded feel that many visitors prefer to the busier city-centre sites.
Beyond the main Buddha, the complex includes Naga statues guarding the staircases and a fish and turtle pond that adds to the peaceful atmosphere. It is an easy, free place to slow down and wander, away from the tourist crush.
The open setting and golden statue make it a good choice towards the end of the day, when the light softens — a popular spot for a quiet sunset. As with any temple, dress modestly and keep noise down near the shrines.
