People who only know Pattaya from Walking Street are always surprised by Jomtien. It's the same coastline, ten minutes south, but it feels like a different town - a long, open beach with families on the sand, joggers on the promenade and rows of low-key seafood places instead of neon. I've lived a short walk from Jomtien Beach Road for most of my seven years here, and it's where I send anyone who tells me Central Pattaya is "too much."
This is my honest, ranked list of the best things to do in Jomtien Beach - the ones I actually do and recommend to friends, with the 2026 prices I pay, not brochure ones. For how Jomtien stacks up against the busier centre, see our Jomtien vs Central Go To Pattaya; this piece is about what to do once you're here.
How we picked
This isn't a copy-paste of every attraction in the postcode. To make the list, an activity had to be genuinely in or a short hop from Jomtien, worth the time and money, and something a normal visitor - couple, family or solo traveller - would actually enjoy. I weighted everyday wins (the beach, a good meal, a sunset) above one-off ticketed attractions, because that's how most people spend a Jomtien day.
Prices were checked at street level in 2026. Where I name a venue it's because it's reliably good, not because anyone paid to be here.
No pay-to-play
Nobody pays to appear on this list. Every price was checked on the ground in 2026 and every spot was visited as a paying customer - the same standard across every Go To Pattaya trip planner.
1. The beach itself
The number-one thing to do in Jomtien is the most obvious: spend a slow day on the beach. Jomtien runs roughly 6 km from the Pattaya Park end down to Najomtien, which makes it far longer, quieter and cleaner than the busy crescent of Pattaya Beach. A sun lounger and umbrella rents for about ฿100–150 for the day, and the vendors walking the sand will happily bring you grilled prawns, fresh pineapple or a cold Chang.
The standout stretch is the south end around Dongtan Beach, where the sand is widest, the water calmest and the tree line gives real shade. The middle section along Jomtien Beach Road is the most convenient - cafes and shops directly across the road - while the far south toward Najomtien is the most local and undeveloped. Mornings before 10am and late afternoons are the most pleasant; midday sun here is genuinely strong.
Local tip
Walk five minutes south of wherever the songthaew drops you. The first stretch by the bus stops gets the most foot traffic; just past it the loungers are the same price and you'll have far more space. Dongtan is worth the extra walk.
2. Water sports on the sand
Jomtien is Pattaya's water-sports beach. Walk the central stretch and you'll be offered jet-skis (฿1,000–1,500 for 30 minutes), parasailing (฿400–600 per flight), banana boat rides (฿200–300 each) and stand-up paddleboard or kayak hire (around ฿200–300/hour). The wind and flat water on the south end also make this the best beach near Pattaya for kitesurfing and windsurfing, with a couple of established schools renting gear and giving lessons.
Two honest warnings. First, always agree the price and the exact time before you start - the classic jet-ski scam is a "damage" claim afterwards, so photograph the craft first and only deal with operators who'll do that calmly. Second, parasailing here is short and scenic rather than thrilling. If you want adrenaline, the jet-ski is the better spend.
Watch out
The jet-ski "damage" scam is real on any Pattaya beach. Take photos or a quick video of the machine before you ride, confirm the price in writing or on a phone screen, and never hand over your passport as a deposit - a photocopy is enough.
3. Jomtien Night Market
The Jomtien Night Market on Thepprasit Road area and the weekend market are where the neighbourhood comes alive after dark. Most plates run ฿40–80 - grilled squid, pad Thai, som tam, mango sticky rice and endless street-snack stalls - and there's cheap clothing, phone cases and the usual market sprawl alongside. It's busiest and best on Friday to Sunday evenings, roughly 5pm to 11pm.
It's a proper local night out rather than a tourist trap: come hungry, eat your way down one aisle, and budget maybe ฿150–250 a head to feel stuffed. For a fuller rundown of the city's markets, our things to do in Pattaya hub lists the best ones across town.
4–6. Sea-view cafes, the tower & the floating market
Three easy wins sit close together along or just off Jomtien Beach Road.
The beach-road cafes face west, so Jomtien gets the better sunset of the two beaches. An iced latte runs ฿60–90; many places do cocktails and tapas as the sun drops. Grab a table by 5:30pm.
The 240 m tower at Jomtien's north end has a revolving viewpoint and a "Tower Jump" speed-descent. The view over the whole bay is the real draw; the jump is a fun, slightly terrifying extra.
The Pattaya Floating Market is a 15-minute drive inland - touristy but photogenic, with boat-borne food stalls and craft shops. Best as a half-day add-on, not a whole day.
Of the three, the sea-view sunset is the one I'd never skip - it costs the price of a coffee and it's the best free-feeling thing Jomtien does. For a proper list of the city's best sea-view spots, see our best beaches near Go To Pattaya, which covers the cafes worth the walk.
7–9. Koh Larn, Pratumnak & the Sanctuary
Jomtien's best trick is how easy it makes the big-name attractions. Three of Pattaya's must-dos are 10–20 minutes away.
7. Koh Larn (Coral Island). The public ferry leaves from Bali Hai Pier - about 10–15 minutes north of Jomtien by songthaew - and costs roughly ฿30 each way for a 45-minute crossing. The island's beaches (Tawaen, Samae) are the genuinely clear, white-sand swimming that Pattaya itself doesn't quite have. It's the single best day trip from Jomtien.
8. Pratumnak Hill. The green headland between Jomtien and Pattaya Beach is a 5–10 minute ride away, with the big golden Buddha at Wat Phra Yai, the Pattaya City Sign viewpoint and quiet little coves like Cosy Beach. It's a lovely sunset-and-photos loop on a scooter or by songthaew.
9. Sanctuary of Truth. Pattaya's astonishing all-teak carved temple is in Naklua, about 25–30 minutes north, with entry around ฿500. It's the most impressive single sight in the whole area - worth the trip even if temples aren't usually your thing. Our full Sanctuary of Truth guide covers timing and tickets.
10. Jomtien with kids
Jomtien is quietly the most family-friendly beach in the area, which is why long-staying families settle here rather than in the centre. The shallow, calm south end is genuinely good for small children, and the attractions skew young: Pattaya Park has a beachfront water park, Underwater World (the aquarium near Tepprasit) runs about ฿400 for adults, ฿250 for kids, and the wide promenade is easy with a buggy.
Add Cartoon Network Amazone and Ramayana Water Park a short drive out on the Sukhumvit side and you have several full days without ever touching nightlife. For the complete family plan, our Go To Pattaya homepage links the kid-friendly itineraries.
What a day in Jomtien costs
Jomtien is cheaper than Central Pattaya for almost everything except a beachfront resort room. Here's a realistic mid-range day in 2026 baht.
All day on the sand. Vendors bring food and drinks to you.
Grilled seafood or a Thai plate from a beach-road restaurant.
Up and down Jomtien Beach Road. ฿40–50 to Bali Hai or Pattaya Beach.
Per person, eating well across several stalls. Drinks extra.
Add one paid activity - a jet-ski, the tower, or the Koh Larn ferry - and a couple can have a full, satisfying Jomtien day for well under ฿2,000 between them. That value is a big part of why people choose to base themselves in Jomtien over the centre.

Frequently asked questions
So the best things to do in Jomtien Beach come down to slowing down: a long morning on the sand, a water sport if you fancy it, a sea-view sunset, the night market for dinner, and Koh Larn or Pratumnak when you want a day out. It's Pattaya for people who want the beach more than the bars - cheaper, calmer and easy to love.
