Table of contents How we picked
How we picked
Five years ago, finding a good coffee in Pattaya meant a hotel espresso machine or a sweet, iced chain drink. That's changed. After working out of the city's cafes for years, I judged each one on the things that matter to a coffee person: bean quality and roasting, barista skill, the espresso and filter, the room, the Wi-Fi and the price. Every cafe below was visited as a paying customer, more than once.
This is a coffee-first list, not a "prettiest cafe for photos" list - though several of these are beautiful too. I've split the picks so you can match the cafe to the moment: a serious morning cup, a sea-view afternoon, a brunch with friends, or a quiet day with a laptop. It's for first-time visitors and the city's growing remote-worker crowd alike.

The 6 best coffee shops in Pattaya
Ranked from our overall coffee pick down, but read it by mood - number six is the best-value everyday cup, not the "worst" cafe.
Nitan Coffee
The coffee person's coffee shop. Nitan roasts its own beans, including excellent Thai single-origins from Chiang Rai, and the baristas know what they're doing - the flat white is properly textured, the filter is clean and bright. The space is minimalist and calm, ideal for a slow morning or a focused hour with a laptop. If you only drink one good coffee in Pattaya, drink it here.

Gallery Coffee by the Sea
The cafe you come to for the setting. Gallery sits right on Wong Amat Beach with tables looking straight onto the water, breezy and beautiful at any time but magic before sunset. The coffee is solid rather than world-beating, but with a view like this you won't mind. Order an iced latte, grab a sea-facing seat, and stay for the light.

Roast8ry Lab
A serious specialty roaster with a "lab" feel - multiple brew methods, rotating single-origins and baristas who'll happily talk you through a pour-over. It's a genuinely comfortable place to settle in with a laptop: fast Wi-Fi, plenty of sockets, strong air-con and big tables. The cold brew and the AeroPress are standouts. A favourite of Pattaya's remote-work crowd.

Glück Cafe
The all-rounder for a long, lazy brunch. Glück pairs decent espresso with a proper food menu - eggs benedict, pancakes, big salads and good cakes - in a bright, plant-filled room. It's the cafe you bring friends to when one person wants serious coffee and everyone else wants to actually eat. Weekends get busy, so go a little early.

Kanvela House
A pretty, plant-wrapped house cafe on Pratumnak that's made for a slow afternoon. The bakery counter is excellent - proper croissants, cakes and tarts - and the coffee is reliably good. Whitewashed walls and a leafy garden make it one of Pattaya's most photogenic cafes, so it's popular, but it's big enough to find a quiet corner with a book.

Cafe Amazon
Not specialty, but worth knowing. Cafe Amazon is Thailand's home-grown chain, found on most petrol stations and high streets, and it's the dependable budget option when you just need a decent iced coffee fast. The iced espresso and the green-tea drinks are the picks. At ฿45–75 a cup with air-con and reliable Wi-Fi, it's the everyday fallback the whole city uses.

Best cafe by mood
Not sure where to head? Pick by what you actually want from the next hour.
In-house roasting and a true flat white - the destination for anyone who really cares about coffee.
Tables on Wong Amat Beach - order an iced latte and stay for the light.
Fast Wi-Fi, plenty of sockets and great filter - the remote-worker favourite.
Proper food plus decent coffee, so the whole table is happy.
A leafy garden, excellent pastries and a quiet corner for a book.
An iced coffee fast and cheap, wherever you happen to be in the city.
Where to find Pattaya's cafes, by area
The coffee scene clusters in a few neighbourhoods. Pick a base and you can walk between several good cafes.
What coffee costs & barista tips
Specialty coffee in Pattaya is a bargain by Western standards - and a few small moves get you a better cup.
Cafe Amazon and similar - cheap, cold, reliable, often very sweet unless you ask.
An independent cafe with skilled baristas, like Nitan or Roast8ry.
Pour-over or AeroPress of a named Thai or imported bean.
A small premium for tables on the beach, like Gallery by the Sea.
Two words that improve your cup
Thai cafes default to very sweet, very iced drinks. Say "wan noi" (less sweet) and you'll taste the coffee. For a hot drink, ask for "hot" clearly - "latte" alone often means iced. At specialty cafes, ask the barista what single-origin is on today; it's usually the best thing on the menu.
Cafe etiquette for laptop workers
Pattaya cafes are laptop-friendly, but the unwritten rule is to buy a drink every couple of hours and free up the table at the lunch rush (roughly 12–2pm) if it's busy. Roast8ry and Nitan have the best Wi-Fi and the most power sockets. Almost everywhere takes Thai QR (PromptPay) and cards.
The verdict
Pattaya is a genuinely good coffee town now. For the best cup in the city, head to Nitan Coffee or Roast8ry Lab on Pratumnak and in Central - proper roasting, real baristas, fair prices. Want the setting more than the science? Gallery Coffee by the Sea at Wong Amat is the sunset pick, while Glück and Kanvela House handle brunch and a slow afternoon. And when you just need a quick, cheap cup, Cafe Amazon is never far. Next, browse the full Eat & Drink guide or our best restaurants in Pattaya roundup.
